At the Silver River Knap-In and Prehistoric Arts Festival, I documented Florida archaeology in action, capturing Dr. Nancy White and her students alongside the USF Anthropology Club. The festival brought together skilled flintknappers, artisans, and fossil enthusiasts, all demonstrating traditional techniques and sharing knowledge rooted in deep history. From the careful shaping of stone tools to the display of fossils that speak to Florida’s ancient landscapes, the event highlighted both craftsmanship and history. My photographs focus on these moments of connection between teacher and student, maker and material, while reflecting the strong sense of community that keeps these practices alive and relevant today.
